Climate adaptation of Transport infrastructure

A project focusing on studying the impact of climate change for transport infrastructures and in securing their functionality.

The project pertains a feasibility study aimed at enabling a strategic interdisciplinary initiative at LTH to increase competence in the area of climate adaptation of the transport system, at LTH, the Swedish Transport Administration but also in a wider societal context. The project aims at supporting the development of effective risk and vulnerability reducing climate adaptation measures from three perspectives 1) design level, 2) system level, and 3) societal level, with the objective of not impairing the safety or function of the railway system, its structures, or the society that depends on it. We intend to do this by highlighting aspects linked to historical climate impact, predictions over longer periods of time, an overview of measures, and the development of strategies from a risk and vulnerability perspective.
